2020 Ian Green Transitional Leadership Video

The time between June and September is an exciting period for MDRT. Some committees are winding down or have concluded their work while others are in the midst of their assignments. Well, wherever you are in the cycle, please know and remember the work you have done and continue to do is vitally important to MDRT. Now, I can tell you first hand that the Executive Committee never slows down. We meet multiple times a month and we'll continue throughout the organizational year. So sorry, Randy, you'll need to wait until midnight on September 1 before I step aside. But during this time, MDRT is also preparing for the 2022 organizational year.

The 2022 Global Council Members, Divisional Vice Presidents and Chairs have been invited to serve, and they are eager to begin their work. Well, as leaders of MDRT, we each have an important responsibility to develop and to prepare our future leaders. You have knowledge and insight that will help whoever's in your role next year to build on your team's success. So please, I ask that you connect with your successor to help them get off to a strong start. Think back on your year of service and consider what strategies help to establish clear and open communication among your team.

How did you build and maintain a strong, cohesive, and effective group? How did you help your team to overcome roadblocks? How can your successor avoid those challenges in the future? And what worked really well and could be built on this coming year? And is there anything maybe that you wish you'd known when you stepped into the role? Well, MDRT staff will facilitate an email introduction between you and your successor, sharing some conversation starters and a checklist to review together. So, our goal is to help ensure a smooth and seamless transition with the ultimate aim that we all share of course, to make MDRT better for all members.

So, thank you again in advance for your time, attention, and contributions. And thank you for your leadership.
