Hello and Welcome.

I’m Ian Green, the 2021 MDRT President. I hope this message finds you and your family, safe and well.

The global pandemic has given us all a challenging 2020 so far. While things may not be ‘back to normal’ just yet, for many of us, we are ‘back to business’. And MDRT is here to help you as much as possible, in as many ways as possible, every single day you need us.

MDRT qualification remains the benchmark for excellence in the financial services profession across the world. Because of the pandemic and restrictions on working around the globe, MDRT has the productivity action plan to assist you. For returning members, we have waived the membership production requirement in 2021 for anyone who was an MDRT member in 2019 or 2020. Welcome back. For those applying for the first time, the 2021 production requirement will be adjusted based on the 2020 requirement due to the effects of the pandemic.

And if you are one of the fortunate ones, who are able to continue work at previous or increased levels of production, maybe this adjusted requirement will enable you to take the step to the next level and achieve Court of the Table or the pinnacle of Top of the Table.

We weren’t able to hold in person meetings during 2020. We had to pivot and go entirely online. The first ever virtual event held during August was a resounding success. The members and staff who put on this incredible event at such short notice deserve recognition.

Thousands of MDRT members attended the live week and many thousands more watched and digested content during the subsequent 3 weeks. Presentations were made by professional speakers and our fellow MDRT members. The sharing ranged from quick ideas just a few minutes long to deep dive sessions of up to an hour.

There really was something for everyone. From the new member looking for tried and tested ideas proven over the decades, to cutting edge practice management and technology tips for the seasoned producer looking for that small additional advantage.

So if, like me, in the year ahead, you want to improve your business skills and ensure positive personal development, be sure to regularly visit the MDRT resource zone. The resource zone is where to go right now to continue to engage with MDRT and learn how to build a better business and to integrate the whole person concept into your life. And if you haven’t already, be sure to download the MDRT app. We are rolling it out in more countries and languages as the year progresses.

We have an exciting year in front of us.

I’m delighted to confirm MDRT is fiscally sound and has no plans to increase membership dues costs in 2021. I hope you are as enthused about your future as I am about MDRT.

As an MDRT member, now is the time to demonstrate to all around us that we are the leaders of our profession. As an MDRT member, we adhere to the strictest ethical standards and achieve excellence in productivity. What we do, for our clients and our families and our companies, makes a positive difference in the world. Despite the challenges we all face, we can commit to continue to grow, become stronger and better.

I hope we are able to meet in person, sooner rather than later. And if not face to face, then virtually again.

The entire MDRT Executive Committee, all member volunteers and MDRT staff around the world are focused on providing you with a service of value, every day. Thank you for being a member of MDRT in 2020.
