I would like to share some of my leadership lessons. The first point I would like to say is a new era requires new leadership. We all need to explore our own methods to maximize our abilities, and we need to become our own leaders first. You may feel that you have nothing to do with the leadership at all, but you are being influenced by the power of leadership all the time, whether you are been led by others or leading others. If a team does not have a good leader, eventually you will lose your team's cohesiveness or even seeing civility issues, and your work will become very tiring. Have you noticed that it is difficult to reverse a situation and move forward with just one leader?
Even NBA teams can hardly rely on a star player to help the team win the championship. Individual combat is definitely not as powerful and effective as a team combat. The future of leadership is no longer about making more people willing to follow you, but about uncovering the leader within each one of us. I personally think that there are two types of leadership styles that are the most extreme. One is the authoritative type, a leader always puts his or her own ideas first, whatever he or she assess is right and feels that world exists for himself or herself. The second type is the self-sacrificing type. This type of leaders always think about the team. They feel small and insignificant. He or she endures a lot of things. And in the end, everyone is tired and has no direction at all.
Neither of these two extremes are good leadership styles. There is something lacking. For a team to have real trust and cooperation, it is necessary to provide people with a sense of security. When people feel safe, tolerated, and affirmed, they will naturally unleash their potential and wisdom, build consensus for common good, and are willing to work with each other. Whether we're leading ourselves or leading a team, we all need to be strongly comfortable with who we are and have unshakable confidence. In this new era, we need to be sincere, humble, creative, flexible, and learn to cooperate with others. So that is my leadership experience. Thank you.
