MDRT is fortunate to have a deep, talented pool of volunteer leaders, and I cannot emphasize enough how important your efforts are to MDRT. Your work moves the organization forward in meaningful and impactful ways to serve our members.
Part of that work involves successful onboarding of new volunteer leaders – incoming Global Council Members, Divisional Vice Presidents, and Chairs who will begin their work on 1 September, the start of MDRT’s organizational year.
As you conclude your leadership term, please facilitate a smooth transition by connecting with your successors and helping them get off to a strong start.
Clear communication is essential to make this happen. So, begin by reflecting on your year of service to MDRT.
- What strategies helped you establish clear and open communication among your team?
- How did you connect and engage with members?
- Is there anything you wish you had known when you stepped into a leadership role?
- How can your successor manage or avoid any challenges you faced?
Then, using MDRT’s strategic plan as a foundation, share your reflections, insights, and guidance – from the proverbial “big picture” to specific areas of work.
MDRT staff will facilitate an email introduction between you and your successor, providing conversation starters and a checklist to review together. The goal is to ensure a smooth and seamless leadership transition, which benefits everyone in our organization.
On behalf of MDRT, I thank you for your continued service and helping our new volunteer leaders succeed from day one.
