By Rail and Bus
Nine municipal transportation agencies, together with the provincially owned GO Transit, offer an extensive train and bus network that covers the entire greater Toronto region, making it easy for delegates to get around. Go Transit also offers a direct-route Airport Express bus that departs from various locations in the city to Pearson International Airport.
Trains roll into downtown’s Union Station bringing VIA Rail passengers from Eastern and Western Canada, while Amtrak offers regular service to Toronto from such cities as New York and Chicago. Union Station is a hub for national VIA Rail trains, U.S.-based AMTRAK trains, Ontario North trains, regional GO trains and buses and TTC trains and buses. Union Station, located in the heart of downtown Toronto, is just down the street from such major attractions as the Rogers Centre, the Hockey Hall of Fame and the CN Tower. It also connects to the underground subway.
Public and Regional Transit
Toronto’s transportation infrastructure includes the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), which operates bus, streetcar, subway and light rapid transit routes within the city, and GO Transit, an extensive inter-regional train and bus network.
